How to Choose a Nanny Agency in Florida
Peace for you is our mission!

1. Understand What You Need
Start by defining the role. Do you need a professional nanny focused only on the children, a nanny-housekeeper who also manages the home, a live-in nanny for long days, a baby nurse for the newborn months, or a traditional housekeeper with no childcare duties? Write down your schedule, number and ages of children, driving needs, languages, pets and any household tasks. A good agency will ask you about all of this in the first conversation; if it doesn't, that is a warning sign.
Also decide whether you need long-term placement or occasional help. Many placement agencies, including ours, do not offer babysitting or on-call services. Knowing this upfront avoids wasted time.
2. Ask How Candidates Are Screened
Screening is the main reason families use an agency. Ask exactly what is checked: minimum years of experience, how references are verified, whether the agency speaks directly with former employers, and what background screening is run. Ask whether the agency interviews every candidate personally.
At Nanny in Boca, every candidate has at least three years of experience with U.S. families, in-depth reference checks with former employers and a nationwide background screening. Whatever agency you choose, get its screening steps in writing.
3. Compare Fees and What They Include
Agency fees in Florida are usually a one-time placement fee, sometimes with a retainer to start the search. Ask whether the retainer is credited toward the final fee, when the balance is due, whether taxes apply, and whether any portion is refundable. Read the agreement carefully; many agencies, including ours, treat all fees as non-refundable.
We offer three placement packages: Basic/Advise at $1,500 with a 90-day replacement guarantee, Standard at $2,500 with a 6-month replacement guarantee, and Premium at $3,500 with a 12-month replacement guarantee. A $500 retainer activates your search and is deducted from your package price, plus applicable taxes. The remaining balance is due before in-person meetings, trials or hire. All agency fees are non-refundable.
4. Look Closely at the Guarantee
A replacement guarantee protects you if a placement doesn't work out. Compare the length (90 days, 6 months, 12 months), how many replacements are included, and what conditions apply. A longer guarantee usually costs more but gives more peace of mind for long-term roles.
5. Check the Process and Trials
Ask how candidates are presented, how interviews work and how trials are handled. Find out who pays the candidate during trial days and when trials can begin. Our process is simple: pay the retainer to activate your search, review featured candidate profiles, meet selected candidates over Zoom, pay the remaining balance, then hold paid trials. Paid trials are authorized only after the remaining balance is paid in full; trial compensation is paid directly to the candidate.
6. Check Local Experience and Reviews
Choose an agency that knows your area. In South Florida, that means understanding gated communities, private clubs, seasonal residents, school traffic and families who travel. Read reviews from local families and ask how long the agency has operated. Nanny in Boca has served Boca Raton, Palm Beach, Broward and Miami since 2000.
7. Questions to Ask Before You Pay
Before paying anything, ask: How many candidates will I see? How quickly can you present them? What happens if I don't like any candidate? What exactly does the guarantee cover? Is there a written agreement I can read first? Clear, direct answers are the best sign you've found the right agency.
